A Visit Sitka business owner account gives you access to manage your business listing on visitsitka.org. Once your account is approved, you can log in and submit updates to your listing, including your description, photo, contact information, website, and social media links.

Is a Visit Sitka Partnership now free?

Yes, a Visit Sitka Partnership is now free. There are no annual dues. Your visitsitka.org listing is part of that partnership and gives your business access to baseline marketing opportunities, with more partner benefits to come.

How do I claim a listing that is already on visitsitka.org?

If your business is already listed on visitsitka.org:

• Go to the Business Account Registration form.
• Start typing your business name in the directory field.
• Select your business from the list.
• Complete the rest of the form.
• Save your password somewhere secure.
• Submit the form.

After you submit the form, Visit Sitka staff will review your request. You will not be able to log in until your account is approved. Once approved, you can log in and submit updates to your listing.

What if my business is not listed yet?

If your business is not currently listed on Visit Sitka, you can still request a business owner account.

During registration, leave the business directory field blank and provide information about your business in the additional comments. Visit Sitka staff will review your request before approving your account.

Once your account is approved and you are logged in:

• Go to the Directory page.
• Click New Listing.
• Complete your listing information.
• Click Submit for Review.

New listings are reviewed by Visit Sitka staff before they are published. Staff may contact you if additional information is needed before your listing can be approved.

What can I update on my listing?

With a business owner account, you can submit updates to your:

• Business description
• Listing photo
• Contact information
• Website links
• Social media links

Are there any limitations on what I can include in my listing?

Yes. Visit Sitka reviews listings before they go live to keep the business directory consistent. For the smoothest approval process, please follow these guidelines:

Title: Use your official business name in the title field.
Description: Keep your description clear, friendly, and visitor-focused. One to two short paragraphs is ideal.
Addresses: Use your public business address, if you have one. If you do not have a public-facing physical address, you may leave the address field blank. Do not list a home address unless you would like it publicly displayed. Format addresses like this: 1234 Sitka Rd., Sitka, AK 99835.
Phone Numbers: Use the public phone number and email address where visitors should contact your business. Format phone numbers like this: (###) ###-####
Websites: Use full URLs for websites and social media links.
Photos: Upload one clear, high-quality listing photo using the Set Listing Picture field. Logos are allowed, but fun photos are encouraged.
Category: Select one category that best fits your business.

Please avoid:
• Adding images directly into the description box
• Uploading blurry, low-resolution, or inappropriate images
• Writing very long descriptions
• Using profanity or inappropriate language
• Comparing your business directly to another business
• Selecting multiple categories

Visit Sitka may make small formatting, spelling, or grammatical edits before approving your listing. If we need larger changes or clarification, we may contact you before publishing.

How do I add or update my listing photo?

Click Set Listing Picture to upload or update your listing photo. Choose a clear, good-quality image that represents your business well. Please use the listing photo field for images, do not add images directly into your business description.

Why aren't my updates showing up right away?

All new listings and listing updates are reviewed by Visit Sitka staff before they appear publicly on the website This helps keep the business directory accurate, consistent, and helpful for visitors.

Can more than one person manage a listing?

Yes. Multiple approved users can manage the same listing. If another team member needs access:

• Wait until the listing is live.
• Have the additional user complete the Business Account Registration form.
• They should select your business in the directory field.
• Visit Sitka will review the request.
• We may confirm with the primary business owner or manager before approving access.

Please contact Visit Sitka if a user’s access ever needs to be removed.

How does Visit Sitka verify listing management access?

Visit Sitka reviews each business owner account request before approving access. We may check your name, email address, phone number, business website, existing listing information, or other public business details. If we need more information, we may contact you before approving your account.

What happens after a listing is claimed?

Once a listing has been claimed, the Claim This Listing button will no longer appear publicly on that listing. Approved users can log in to manage the listing, and future edits will continue to be submitted to Visit Sitka for review before publication.

Where do I log in after my account is approved?

Once your account is approved, you can log in using the link in your approval email or click here. When you are logged in, you may see a WordPress login bar at the top of the website. You can use that bar to access your account and manage your listing.
